As a part of the ENMAX Power Corporation Network team, Journeyperson Power System Electricians perform work in the construction,commissioningandmaintenance,of the downtown electrical network.  

Major Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the Province of Alberta, ENMAX Corporation, A.E.U.C. (Alberta Electrical Utility Code) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations.

  • Commission, troubleshoot,repairandmaintainhigh voltage transformers, circuit breakers, instrumenttransformersand all other related equipment.

  • Construction and maintenance, and the protection and control areas of high voltage electrical substations.  

  • Work on mechanical and electromechanical relays, remote terminal units (RTUs), SCADA systems, human machine interfaces (HMI), repair/troubleshoot protection and control circuits, and other relay related processes. 

  • Recognize,assessand control potentially hazardous situations in the work environment.

  • Ensure proper care and use of vehicles,equipmentand work sites.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must meet ENMAX Corporation’s requirements as to qualifications and/or must be qualified under the Alberta Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act with respect to the related electrical trade.

  • Must have a proven safety record and thorough knowledge of Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and/or Safe Work Practices (SWPs).

  • Will be qualified or able to qualify as a Power System Electrician under the Alberta Manpower Development Act.

  • A certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent would be an asset.

  • Possesses a good working knowledge of the methods and procedures used in utility substation construction, maintenance,protectionand control.

  • Works comfortably in underground confined space environments and adverse climate conditions.

  • Possesses knowledge of gas insulated switchgear.

  • Possesses knowledge of the Alberta Electrical Utility Code (A.E.U.C Safety Codes Act) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations as they pertain to the trade.

  • Willing toassistand train apprentices.

  • Is able tocommunicate effectively to address customer concerns in a professionalmanner.

  • Has hadexposure to high stress situations and the ability to manage stress effectively.

  • Experience working with MS Windows, MS Office, and computer-based test equipment.

  • Must have a valid Province of Alberta driver’s license and willing to upgrade to Class 1 driver’s license asrequired

  • Must be willing to upgrade qualifications asrequired

Salary Asoutlined in the IBEW Collective Agreement (Based onJanuary,2026 rates): $68.75 per hour

Shift  RegularDays:7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Shift may be changed to meet operational needs.

Location: Field Services Depot (2020 Center Ave NE Calgary)
