The Opportunity:

CACI is looking for a VI Administrator to support USAFRICOM's mission on the ELITE contract in Stuttgart Germany. This position requires relocation and living in Stuttgart, Germany.

Responsibilities:

  • Storage Management Configure, monitor, and maintain SAN, NAS, and cloud storage systems, ensuring high performance for customer's requirements.

  • Capacity Planning & Troubleshooting Monitor storage utilization, forecast capacity needs, and proactively address storage alerts to prevent downtime.

  • Backup and Disaster Recovery Ensure data integrity by managing automated backups, snapshots, and replication of critical video data.

  • Security & Compliance: Implement security standards for data storage, manage user access rights, and comply with security requirements.

  • Vendor Liaison: Collaborate with hardware/software vendors to address technical issues and implement upgrades.

  • Infrastructure Management: configure, and maintain enterprise storage systems (e.g., NetApp ONTAP)

  • Performance & Capacity Planning: Monitor resource usage, adjust storage allocation, and optimize performance for databases and virtual environments.

  • Data Protection & DR: Lead backup/recovery operations (e.g., Veeam, Commvault) and manage data replication (e.g., SnapMirror).

  • Troubleshooting: Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) to resolve high-level SAN/NAS incidents.

  • Security & Compliance: Enforce security policies, apply firmware updates, and ensure systems meet industry standards (e.g., DISA STIGs)

  • Automation: Utilize scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible) to automate routine administrative tasks.

  • The VI Administrator will be responsible for supporting systems and applications on a geographically dispersed Windows Enterprise network with multiple types of servers and server applications.

  • The VI Administrator will be directly responsible for the effective and efficient operation and interconnectivity of a Department of Defense Network and will execute the actions required to correct deficiencies or shortcomings and to improve system performance and efficiency.

  • The VI Administrator will provide senior level knowledge and Tier 3 support to the customer and their components to include Tier 3 infrastructure, design, implementation, troubleshooting, and support that builds, configures, and administers several hundred servers in their area of operation.

  • VI Administrator will provide remote support and/or travel to customer sites as required , demonstrate a strong background in managing VDI solutions (VmWare Horizon preferred), follow technical guidance from fellow team members, leadership, and customers about maintaining, operating, and evolving VDI environments and be able to independently act on that guidance, maintain high service availability by liaising with many stakeholders to identify risk and threats to the delivery of VDI services, rapidly identify and correct faults impacting service delivery and other duties as assigned.

  • Secondary responsibilities will include developing, maintaining, and updating VDI Virtual Apps and Desktops environments as required.

  • Candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing technical standards (SOP, TTP, implementation instructions, other required documentation) and monitoring processes for information systems.

  • Candidate will collaborate and liaise with other teams within the organization as well as VDI/VI team members to identify, track, and report on opportunities for system optimization, methods to drive efficiency, identify and reduce error rates, and empirically document customer experience.

  • Perform and oversee the management of Windows system administrator functions supporting a global Active Directory (AD) infrastructure

  • The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner

  • Required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that requires team interaction and coordination of efforts. The candidate must be experienced in interfacing with both client managers and system users

  • Must Be a US Citizen

  • Candidate must posses an active DoD Secret level security clearance and be eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of directly relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree · 8+ years of hands-on NetApp/VMWARE vSphere/ESXI experience in engineering, operations and maintenance roles

  • Strong knowledge of NetApp/VMWARE concepts and best practices

  • Maintain expert knowledge of NetApp, ESXi hosts, clusters, and vSAN/NAS/backup solution

  • Support mission-critical Continuity of Operations (COOP)

  • Develop and/or participate in Aft er Acti on Reports (AARs)

  • Establish security and cyber controls including STIGs, scans, logging, monitoring

  • Senior level knowledge of supporting Operating Systems: Windows Server 2022, Windows 11, and VMWare Photon OS

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of SAN/NAS, block/file/object storage, and fiber channel switching (Brocade/Cisco).

  • Platform Knowledge: Proficiency with vendors like NetApp, Dell/EMC, and virtualization platforms (VMware ESXi).

  • OS Knowledge: Solid scripting skills and Linux/Windows administration skills.

  • Certifications: NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA) or vendor-specific storage certifications, VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (DCV) or Desktop Management (DTM), 8570 IAT Level II Baseline Certification (e.g. CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$82,700 - 173,900 USD
