Job Description

This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Journeyman System Administrator to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.

In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement—helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform system administration and maintenance activities to ensure system availability and performance.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and system components.
  • Monitor system performance, logs, and alerts to identify and resolve issues.
  • Execute patch management activities to maintain compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Support configuration management, system baselines, and version control activities.
  • Assist in managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Support troubleshooting of system, network, and application issues.
  • Assist with deployment and integration of system updates across environments (DEV, TEST, INT, PROD) .
  • Support incident response activities by identifying, tracking, and assisting in resolution of system issues.
  • Maintain system documentation, SOPs, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to support system operations.
  • Participate in SAFe ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical discipline and 4–8 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and 2–6 years of relevant experience.
  • At least one of the following foundational qualification pathways consistent with DoD 8140 requirements:
    • Current DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification appropriate for Basic System Administrator roles (e.g., Security+, Network+, A+, or equivalent),
    • Offerings listed in the DoD 8140 Training Repository,
    • Demonstrated equivalent training and experience qualifying under DoD 8140 foundational qualification alternatives.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in system administration or related field.
  • Experience supporting system administration or IT operations in enterprise environments.
  • Experience working with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows Server).
  • Experience performing system monitoring, troubleshooting, and configuration management tasks.
  • Experience supporting patching, updates, and system maintenance activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting systems across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Experience supporting DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD processes.
  • Experience working in Agile or SAFe environments.
  • Experience with cloud environments such as AWS GovCloud, SC2S AWS Secret Region Cloud, and C2S AWS Cloud.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
