Basic Employee Responsibilities

Position Specific Responsibilities
Operate advanced CNC equipment in accordance with approved safe work procedures, machining parts to exact specifications while maintaining a clean and organized work area aligned with company 5S policies. This position is ideal for a highly skilled machinist seeking challenging, high precision work in a clean, organized, and well-equipped CNC environment.
• Program, set up, and operate Mazak and DMG CNC machines, including creating offline programs in G Code and Mazatrol and pushing them to machines.
• Perform complex setups on 5-axis CNC machinery equipped with dual spindles and dual turrets for both lathe and mill operations.
• Run multiple CNC machines as required to support production goals and maximize uptime.
• Set up CNC machines for Operators according to the schedule, supporting smooth and efficient workflow.
• Operate manual lathes and manual mills when required for specialty or legacy machining tasks.
• Continuously work to reduce setup times and program cycle times, communicating improvement opportunities to the CNC Lead Hand and CNC Manufacturing Manager.
• Train and mentor other employees in safe and proper CNC operation to support skill development and internal advancement.
• Manage daily CNC process flow by ensuring the next job is fully staged (materials, gauges, tooling, fixturing) to reduce downtime and maintain steady production.
• Complete all required work order documentation and update hourly production boards with accurate setup times, issues, and production details.
• Perform daily housekeeping and maintain a clean, organized, high performance machining environment.
• Conduct routine equipment maintenance and ensure all measuring instruments remain properly calibrated and reliable.
• Communicate tooling, material, and supply needs to the Manager to ensure uninterrupted access to specialty tools required for high precision work.
• Review and interpret job orders and engineering drawings to determine machining strategies, tooling requirements, and sequencing of operations.
• Verify machined dimensions using calibrated gauges and perform in process quality checks to ensure accuracy and conformance to tolerances.
• Apply strong mechanical knowledge to select the correct tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies for each job.
• Work independently to manage machining tasks, maintain accuracy, and meet production requirements.
• Provide hands on support and guidance to machinists in safe, proper CNC operation when required.
• Report and document nonconforming products according to NCR procedures, supporting high quality standards and process reliability.
Required Minimum Qualifications
• Advanced programming proficiency with Mazak and DMG CNC machines, including the ability to create offline programs in G Code and Mazatrol and push programs to machines.
• Proven ability to set up and run 5 axis CNC machines equipped with dual spindles and dual turrets for both lathe and mill operations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and follow machining specifications with accuracy.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc.) to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with solid knowledge of tooling, speeds/feeds, and machining processes.
Preferred Qualifications
• Journeyman Machinist certification (or equivalent). Equivalent experience will be fully considered.
• Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts, with strong safety awareness and consistent adherence to safe work practices.
Physical Demands
• Stand and walk for extended periods during 8-12-hour shifts while operating and setting up CNC machines.
• Lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 lbs. as required.
• Push or pull carts, tooling, or material as needed.
• Perform routine bending, reaching, kneeling, and handling of tools, parts, and precision measuring devices.
• Use hands and fingers for fine motor tasks such as tool changes, adjustments, and measurement verification.
• Work in a machining environment with exposure to noise, oils, coolants, metal chips, and temperature variations (PPE required).
