Job Description

Journeyman Electrician - Full Time

Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm

PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.

Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, the Journeyman Electrician performs minor repairs, and assists in major repairs or installations to the building and facilities electrical systems.

Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

Must be a state Certified Journey Level Electrician for a minimum of five (5) years.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and
procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required. Writing ability required to prepare reports and compose correspondence. Verbal communication skills required to deal with interpersonal situations in a professional manner. Understanding of rules of grammar, spelling and
punctuation necessary. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required. Ability to work with numbers and complete forms.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer knowledge.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a state journeyman or master electrician license required. Must have and maintain BLS certification. The employee must maintain a valid CA driver's license and current DMV report, the results of which are within acceptable standards as per SVMC policy as a condition of employment. The employee will also be required as a condition of employment to enroll in the DMV Pull Notice program to allow the Hospital to receive notice of any changes in their driving record. The Employee must maintain at least state required limits of liability insurance/evidence of financial responsibility on own vehicles (such limits may not be adequate and Employee should consider higher limits for their own protection).

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
*Indicates Essential Function

1 * Responsible for the installation and construction of commercial electrical equipment and systems through the proper use of standard wire, conduit, fittings and hardware commonly found in hospital facilities.
2 * Able to read and understand conduit drawings, schematics and specifications.
3 * Follows and carries out all company safety and regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines as they relate to this position.
4 * Must be able to carry out duties of a competent journeymen electrician.
5 * "Documentation reflects compliance with established hospital policies and
procedures.

6 * Creates and practices a preventive maintenance schedule for electrical panels, breakers and feeders.
7 * Ability to perform duties with normal supervision.
8 * A working knowledge of fire alarm and signal panels.
9 * Knowledge and observance of all safety precautions.
10 * Participates in performance improvement and information management activities.
11 * Provides safety for patients, visitors and staff, reporting all incidents that occurs to supervisor or police.
12 * Must possess a valid California driver's license.
13 * Be in attendance on site and arrive to work on time
