About this opportunity:

Location: Altona / Winkler / Morden and surrounding area
Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Salary: Competitive compensation based on experience
Schedule: Based on operational needs, including weekends, holidays, and occasional off-shift work

Are you a licensed Electrician looking for a dynamic, hands-on role? As a Journeyman Electrician at Canada Packers, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining and improving our electrical systems to ensure safe and efficient operations across our facilities.

This is a highly technical and physically active position where your expertise directly supports production uptime and operational excellence. If you’re someone who enjoys troubleshooting, problem-solving, and working in a fast-paced environment, this opportunity could be the perfect fit for you.

Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Manager, Capital Projects & Maintenance, you’ll support the day-to-day electrical operations across facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Minimizing production downtime by responding to production calls promptly.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, and electrical code specifications.
  • Performing maintenance, repairs, and installations of the electrical system infrastructure.
  • Trouble-shooting and repairing production equipment such as PLC’s, VFD’s and environmental controllers.
  • Completing required preventative maintenance schedules, work orders and equipment tracking.
  • Actively contributing to the preventative maintenance program by submitting recommendations for improvement.
  • Providing job training on ventilation controls, alarm systems, and other equipment as required.
  • Conducting facility and equipment audits.
  • Documenting and recording all data into the scheduled work order system.
  • Seeking out and applying best practice solutions to correct deficiencies.

Skills & Experience:

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application. Proof of eligibility may be requested during the recruitment process.

  • Journeyman Electrician license in the province of Manitoba
  • Heating System Experience.
  • Water Well Systems Experience.
  • Must be available to travel within business operation.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work efficiently with all operations.
  • Self-directed/motivated team player.
  • Excellent computer knowledge.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a farm atmosphere.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
  • Thermography training or certification would be an asset.
  • The ability to work at various heights and in confined spaces.
  • An ability to live and teach our company Leadership Values.
  • Previous Maintenance experience and experience working in the hog industry would be an asset.
