Job Description

Job Purpose

The Journals Indexing Specialist is a global role responsible for maintaining end to end processes associated with journals indexing at Sage. The job holder will develop and maintain processes to enhance the visibility of Sage journals by preparing robust indexing applications to indexing partners. The Journals Indexing Specialist will be responsible for collaborating with editorial, research integrity and production to ensure journals are maintaining quality standards expected by indexers and monitor the evolving requirements of external indexing services. Using data driven insights, the Journals Indexing specialist will work with the Associate Director, Research Integrity to drive the indexing strategy at Sage; monitor journals at risk of quality concerns as well as ensure successful applications to indexing services.

Key Accountabilities

· Independently oversee the end-to-end processes associated with journal indexing applications and coverage of content by working with Production, Research Integrity, Editorial and Legal teams

· Develop processes to support rigorous journal indexing applications at Sage

· Create actionable, data-driven insights for Editorial and Research Integrity Teams to ensure journals adhere to indexer requirements

· Provide subject matter expertise and acts as first point of contact for queries within Sage about indexing

· Provide training and educational resources for Sage and external editors

· Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of Sage, act as a point of contact for all indexing services

· Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and work with Associate Director, Research Integrity to implement cross-functional processes

· Maintain workflows, meetings, and documentation, to ensure the indexing processes are well-organized and understood by Editorial teams

· Maintain successful relationships with production and journal editorial teams at Sage

· Maintain knowledge of changing indexing requirements, trends and overall research publishing landscape

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

· Extensive knowledge of bibliometrics and analysing citations data in research journals

· Proficiency in data analytics, data visualization using standard IT packages

· In-depth experience in research and scholarly publishing and indexing services, particularly a working knowledge of Research Integrity principles and Production processes in journals

· Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders and building strong relationships with external partners

· Evidence of familiarity with searching various databases such as Web of Science, PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, and their requirements for new journals.

· Strong communication skills to translate complex concepts to external and internal stakeholders

· Research experience, especially in a relevant background such as bibliometrics or scientometrics is highly desirable

· High attention to detail and organisation skills to manage multiple priorities.
