The Role

Step into the role of Joules Junior Designer - Wovens, Shirts and Blouses.

Discover an exciting opportunity to take on an integral role here at Joules Head Office working within the Womenswear Design team.

Working Pattern: This is a full time, 12 month fixed term contract based at ‘The Barn’ - Joules’ purpose built Head Office in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. The typical hours for this role are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and this is an onsite role.

Market Harborough; in Leicestershire, is where Joules began in 1989. This market town is home to the brand’s Head Office and is full of independent shops, bars and restaurants. It also benefits from good transport links to London, making it easily accessible for visitors and commuters alike.

What You’ll Do

Work within the Womenswear Designteam where you will be accountable for the design of Wovens, shirts and blouses.

  • To support and assist the Designer/Senior Designer in developing, progressing & managing a profitable department across stores and online.
  • Prepare for Design meetings, taking responsibility for racking up product and preparing mood and research boards.
  • Drive the creation of trends appropriate to the season and end use.
  • Contribute to the decision-making, supporting your ideas with inspirational images and/or samples.
  • Prepare for and present seasonal Touch Point & CAD presentations for specific product areas.
  • Take ownership of updating Commodity & Capsule.
  • Analyse weekly line performance reports in advance of attending departmental trade meetings taking necessary action.
  • Use analysis provided by the Merchandising team in order to inform development of future product, discussing with the manager if any further information is required.
  • Prepare for and attend sign-off meetings with senior management.
  • Attend fit sessions ensuring artwork, garment fit and embellishment are correct.
  • Proactively drive obtaining research and inspiration through analysis of competitor shops, fashion blogs and trend resources.
  • Ensure samples are ready with correct information/CADS, alongside the Buying Team.

What You’ll Bring

To really shine within the role of Junior Designer you must be able to work flexibly and at pace with an eye for colour and trend. From a technical and operational perspective, it would also be advantageous if you have:

  • A Degree or relevant qualification in Fashion Garment Design.
  • Demonstrable experience within a similar role.
  • Experience working within a design room of a supplier or retailer.
  • Experience working with embellishment and/or embroidery.
  • Experience in creating design packs/BOM’s.
  • Strong Cad/Illustrator skills.
  • Demonstrable technical garment/fabric knowledge.
  • Demonstrates accountability to deliver within role and drive the right results.
  • Proactive, vibrant and spirited and rises to challenges.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Thinks above and beyond role.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a passion for the Joules brand & understanding of the Joules customer and their lifestyle.
