The Jockey Truck Driver works independently to perform trailer movements within the storage yard.
This is an on-site role located in Savannah, GA. Responsibilities include:
Safely back in and/or pull out 40’ long trailers as directed.
Keep accurate records of containers/trailers moved onto and off of augers and truck scales.
Interact with over the road drivers arriving on the premises, providing assistance and direction.
Maneuver in crowded lots with tractor and trailer.
Set, record, and/or monitor refrigeration units on the trailers.
Monitor fluid and fuel levels in tractor and add fluids when necessary using checklist.
Safely open and close trailer doors, add/remove/record seal numbers, and climb in and out of the yard truck many times per day.
Keep work area clean and perform housekeeping duties.
Assist with Maintenance of assigned yard.
Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
Maintain and advance the food safety and quality of POET’s products and processes to deliver a best-in-class culture of quality.

High School Diploma or GED required.
One (1) year relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Valid State Driver’s License required.
Previous spotting experience.
Knowledge of general warehouse practices.
Knowledge of various types of equipment and their controls.
Knowledge of the basics of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability of learning new programs.

This role has some physical requirements that our team members will need to be able to perform, such as:
Occasionally lifting weight up to sixty (60) pounds.
Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders.
Occasionally bending, twisting and turning while lifting weight of less than fifty (50) pounds.
Walking up to two (2) or more miles per day.
Pushing brooms, shovels, etc.
Standing for extended periods of time.
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Using hand and power tools.
This position is largely self-directed and requires a thorough understanding of company policy, procedures, and values. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements at all times and in all work environments. The team member may be exposed to high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and chemicals.
Due to the physical and safety-sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process. During employment, you’ll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
