Job Description
Location: Arnhem, Netherlands
The Ecologist – Realization is responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with ecological regulations during the execution phase of water and nature improvement projects. The role focuses on safeguarding species and habitat protection, supporting project teams, and ensuring ecological standards are met throughout implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and validate ecological impacts of final and execution designs
Advise on and monitor measures for protected species and habitats
Act as ecological point of contact for contractors
Review ecological work protocols
Conduct site observations and compliance checks during execution
Support handling of ecological incidents
Coordinate with technical, environmental, and legal stakeholders
Facilitate knowledge sharing and alignment across project teams
Organize periodic coordination meetings among ecologists
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in ecological expertise (client or contractor side)
Completed HBO degree in a relevant field (e.g. Environmental Science, Ecology, Forestry, Nature Management)
Strong knowledge of nature legislation and ecological regulations
Experience in ecological supervision during realization of large-scale projects
