Job Captain | San Francisco (on-site)

Our client, an established architecture firm, is seeking a Job Captain with at least eight years of professional experience. This person will coordinate the day-to-day technical development of projects, guide production teams, and help deliver complete, accurate construction documents on schedule.

The position is suited to an experienced architectural professional who can work independently, resolve complex technical issues, coordinate consultants, and provide clear direction to other team members while partnering closely with project leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development and production of architectural documents across multiple project phases.
  • Organize assignments and guide project teams in completing coordinated construction document sets.
  • Work closely with project managers to maintain project schedules, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Develop and evaluate architectural details, design solutions, and technical approaches.
  • Identify and resolve complex design and documentation issues with practical solutions.
  • Produce and oversee architectural drawings, details, models, and specifications.
  • Review and redline project documents for accuracy, completeness, coordination, and constructability.
  • Coordinate architectural work with consultants, contractors, review agencies, and other project disciplines.
  • Lead consultant coordination meetings and manage the exchange of technical information.
  • Document client and consultant meetings and communicate relevant information to the project team.
  • Support projects from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Assist with construction administration and coordination with public agencies.
  • Contribute to project QA/QC reviews and verify that current project information is incorporated into the documents.
  • Provide technical and design feedback to team members.
  • Delegate production assignments and provide guidance to less-experienced architectural staff.
  • Track progress against project schedules and communicate potential issues to project leadership.
  • Complete additional project-related assignments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in architecture from an accredited program preferred.
  • At least eight years of professional architectural experience.
  • At least three to five years of experience supporting projects from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Architectural licensure preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of architectural design, construction documentation, building codes, and construction methods.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling software.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam and Adobe software.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp is helpful.
  • Experience with consultant coordination, construction administration, and agency coordination.
  • Strong understanding of complete construction document sets and QA/QC processes.
  • Familiarity with sustainable and integrated design practices.

Location and Work Authorization

Candidates must currently reside in the San Francisco Bay Area and be available to work locally. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
