Calix is a cloud and appliance-based platform and managed services company. Broadband service providers leverage the Calix broadband platform, cloud, and managed services to simplify operations, engagement, and service, innovate for their consumer, business. and municipal subscribers and grow their business and the communities they serve.
The Calix Engineering Tools Service (ETS) team is responsible for building and maintaining the company’s engineering platform and infrastructure, enabling the reliable operation and efficient delivery of large-scale software systems.
As a DevOps Intern, you will contribute to the development of core engineering platforms and gain hands-on experience in:
- Containerization and cloud-native technologies
- Monitoring systems in real-world production environments
- How DevOps connects development, testing, deployment, and operations
This internship goes beyond routine operations or coding tasks — you will actively participate in building core engineering systems and develop enterprise-level software engineering and system capabilities. It is a strong foundation for future careers in Backend Development, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
Internship Duration
- Available to start upon successful interview (ASAP)
- Approximately 4 working days per week (no weekend required)
- Minimum internship duration: 3 months
- Candidates available for 6+ months are preferred
Key Responsibilities
You will work on DevOps and platform-related initiatives within the ETS team, including but not limited to:
- Participate in the development and maintenance of platforms based on Docker and Kubernetes (K8s)
- Use Helm to manage and deploy application services
- Assist in maintaining Linux environments and system configurations
- Contribute to improving platform stability and scalability
- Support engineering teams during testing and release processes
- Gain exposure to basic database operations and usage scenarios

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above (currently enrolled) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Telecommunications, Artificial Intelligence, Automation, or related fields
- Master’s students are preferred
- Basic knowledge or experience with Linux systems
- Strong interest in DevOps, system engineering, and cloud-native technologies
- Strong learning ability and problem-solving skills
- Availability to commit to the internship schedule and workload
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Docker or Kubernetes
- Familiarity with Helm or containerized deployment processes
- Hands-on experience with Grafana / Prometheus
- Exposure to databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
- Coursework or project experience in operations, platform, or system engineering
- Long-term interest in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering
