What’s the opportunity?

As our Java Technical Referent you’ll raise the engineering bar, define standards, and deliver accurate, scalable backend services that the team and stakeholders can trust. A key part of your impact will be reducing manual reviews through robust, deterministic logic and targeted automation that improves reliability and throughput. You will collaborate closely with leaders and engineers to maintain and improve the architecture of the finance core micro systems in general. This is a Technica Referent, a high-autonomy role with clear accountability for correctness and scalability.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead the design and delivery of reliable Java microservices for finance core and finance core reconciliation, ensuring accuracy, performance, and scalability.

  • Define and enforce engineering standards, acting as the technical bar-raiser for the group.

  • Audit, maintain, and improve existing repositories

  • Drive automation to reduce manual reviews and errors (e.g., rules engines, validations, alerts, auto-reconciliation flows) and continuously optimize workflows.

  • Mentor teammates via code/design reviews and knowledge-sharing, elevating domain and engineering maturity across the team

What skills do you need?

  • Proven hands-on Software Development experience in Java SE and using frameworks such as Spring / Spring Boot. At least 7 years of experience

  • Experience working with microservice architectures

  • Object-oriented analysis and design using common design patterns and Java SE internals (Classloading, Memory Management, Transaction management, etc.)

  • Good knowledge of Relational and Non-relational Databases

  • Experience with Cloud Providers such as AWS (preferred) or GCP

  • Ability to quickly adapt to Python codebases

  • Strong grasp of financial/reconciliation business logic and data quality; close attention to accuracy and auditability

  • Ownership & Proactivity — Ability to take end-to-end responsibility for initiatives, act without waiting for approval, reduce uncertainty by investigating and proposing concrete solutions rather than escalating open questions

  • Results-Oriented Communication — Ability to communicate progress, blockers, and decisions clearly and concisely with actionable context, enabling stakeholders to make efficient decisions without needing to dig into the details

  • Automation mindset: experience building tests, tooling, and workflow improvements to eliminate manual steps and reduce defects

  • Proven ability to operate with autonomy, make sound trade-offs, and mentor others

  • Excellent collaboration with engineering and non-technical stakeholders

  • Based in Montevideo, Uruguay or Buenos Aires, Argentina

  • Advanced English (mandatory)
