Your day at NTT DATA

We are seeking an experienced Java Technical Lead to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, high-quality software solutions. This role requires a strong hands-on background in Java development combined with technical leadership skills to guide development teams, define technical standards, and drive engineering best practices.

The successful candidate will work closely with architects, developers, product owners, business analysts, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions while ensuring quality, performance, security, and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of Java-based applications and enterprise solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to Java developers throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Remain hands-on in development, including coding, code reviews, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues.
• Define and maintain application architecture, coding standards, development practices, and technical guidelines.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend services using Java technologies.
• Review technical designs and source code to ensure quality, scalability, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Work closely with solution architects, business analysts, product owners, QA, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Lead technical discussions and provide recommendations on technology selection, application design, and system integration.
• Mentor and coach developers, supporting their technical development and promoting knowledge sharing within the team.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and potential issues and proactively recommend appropriate solutions.
• Support application deployment, production troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.
• Drive continuous improvement through Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and engineering best practices.
• Ensure applications comply with relevant security, governance, and software development standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software development, with strong hands-on experience in Java development.
• At least 2–3 years of experience in a Technical Lead, Lead Developer, or similar technical leadership role.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures, and software architecture principles.
• Experience designing and developing microservices and distributed systems.
• Strong experience with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
• Experience with source control and build tools such as Git, Maven, or Gradle.
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is an advantage.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is an advantage.
• Familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar platforms is preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and influence development teams without losing hands-on technical involvement.
