This position is for Stadler Digital Labs, a joint venture between Stadler Rail and Critical Software serving as the digital competence center for the Stadler Group.

Which brings us to you, the person with:

  • At least 3 years of experience using Java, Quarkus, Kafka, and PostgreSQL
  • Knowledge of microservices architectures
  • Experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message streaming using Kafka
  • Experience with highly scalable and performant backend services built on Quarkus
  • Experience in working autonomously within an agile environment with automated testing and continuous integration and delivery
  • Capacity to deliver high quality, reusable and testable software components for highly scalable backend services using Java and Quarkus
  • Ability to support the Product Owner with architectural insights and technical knowledge
  • Expertise to be part of the team planning and improvement using agile methodologies
  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken)
  • Demonstrates awareness of AI trends (including agentic AI), with curiosity and motivation to explore how they can enhance products, processes, or ways of working
  • Shows a learning mindset toward emerging technologies and an openness to experiment, adapt, and continuously upskill in an AI‑enabled environment.
