The Java Backend Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend applications while contributing to technical decisions, system improvements, and engineering excellence. The role requires strong ownership, collaboration, and the ability to solve complex software challenges in an Agile environment.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build scalable RESTful APIs and microservices following modern software engineering practices.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while applying object-oriented principles and design patterns.
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and code reviews.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, availability, and reliability.
• Investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
• Support and mentor junior engineers by sharing knowledge and promoting software quality standards.
• Develop solutions using technologies such as Java 17/21, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, databases, messaging systems, and cloud platforms.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced backend engineer with strong Java expertise and a passion for building scalable, reliable systems. They should have a solid understanding of modern backend development practices, distributed architectures, and collaborative software delivery.

• 4+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java (Java 8 or newer).
• Proven experience with Spring Boot and the broader Spring ecosystem.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong knowledge of SQL databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns.
• Experience with development tools such as Git, Maven or Gradle, and Docker.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, caching strategies, and messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and production support capabilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills within Agile teams.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

• Experience with Spring Security, OAuth2, JWT, or secure API development.
• Knowledge of Redis or other caching technologies.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Exposure to AI-powered application development or Spring AI.
