Job Description

Based on TSMC's waste management strategy, this role involves planning, executing, and coordinating resource recycling and appropriate waste disposal. This is a highly rewarding position that includes overseeing the overall waste management plan at JASM, as well as daily coordination with waste and recycling suppliers, such as arranging vehicles and conducting on-site inspections. Given the limited number of professionals in Japan with experience in recycling and waste management, this role provides a unique opportunity to gain niche knowledge and expertise. Since production halts if waste disposal is delayed, this job is critical to Fab operations, similar to procurement. Additionally, the Warehouse & Waste section encompasses two areas of work: warehouse management and waste management. Depending on manpower allocation within the section, you may be required to handle both roles.

Responsibilities

(Immediately after hiring)

  1. Planning and implementing a safe waste management strategy, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with relevant environmental regulations.
  2. Conducting risk assessments related to waste management, including contract management with external suppliers.
  3. Managing waste storage, keeping records, coordinating shipments of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, and submitting reports to regulatory authorities.
  4. Developing strategies to improve recycling rates and reduce landfill and incineration ratios.

(Scope of change)

There is a reassignment to the work specified by the Company.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
  2. Possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and overcome challenges and improve processes.
  3. Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  4. Proficiency in Japanese and English (TOEIC score of 800 or above), or Japanese (N1) and Chinese language skills.
  5. Business-level proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Over 3 years of relevant experience in hazardous and non-hazardous waste management (experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus).
  2. Familiarity with Japan’s waste management and resource recycling laws, such as the Basic Environment Law, Waste Management and Public Cleansing Act, Basic Law for Establishing a Recycling-Based Society, and the Act on the Promotion of Effective Utilization of Resources.
  3. Expertise in regulations regarding specially controlled waste.
  4. Prior involvement in waste disposal arrangements at JASM in some capacity.
