Job Description

Role: Cost Accountant

The Cost Accountant will play a pivotal role in understanding our costing structures and their impact on business profitability. This individual will collaborate closely with our Operations, Procurement, and Capacity Planning teams to ensure inventory accuracy, optimize cost structures, and support data-driven strategic decision-making. This role is ideal for an individual with strong analytical capabilities and a desire to contribute meaningfully to organizational success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to month-end financial closing activities, including preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
  • Assist in tracking, analyzing, and reconciling inventory, including performing variance analysis
  • Manage and maintain accurate inventory records through physical counts to ensure compliance and data integrity
  • Understand gross margin and inventory trends, and provide timely and insightful financial analysis of costs and margins to management
  • Collaborate with Operations and Procurement teams to identify and implement process improvements and cost efficiencies
  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing cost accounting procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Participating in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing valuable analytical support
  • Prepare and organize cost and inventory documentation for external auditors, supporting the financial audit process
  • Learn to use IT and other automation tools for streamlining processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Fluency in Japanese and Mandarin

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of finance, accounting, or related experience
  • Master’s degree or CPA designation
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Power BI or SQL
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across various levels and culture
