Job Description

We are looking for a Growth Marketing Manager to lead the digital growth function for a well-known consumer entertainment destination in Japan, with a focus on new customer acquisition.

In this role, you will be managing a small internal team and external agency partners across four digital growth channels: paid media, SEO, email marketing, and affiliates. You will have the depth and ownership of an in-house lead, backed by an experienced growth agency team. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for someone who takes real ownership of outcomes and is motivated by turning performance around.

This is a full-time hybrid role requiring some onsite work, and is expected to run for at least 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage four digital growth channels: paid media, SEO, email marketing, and affiliates — setting strategy, managing agency and vendor execution, and owning performance reporting end-to-end
  • Manage and develop a small internal team, providing clear direction, accountability, and day-to-day support
  • Oversee and hold accountable all external agency and vendor partners — paid media agency, SEO agency, email platform vendor, and affiliate partners — ensuring all partners are briefed clearly and working against measurable KPIs
  • Lead the channel audit in Month 1 — documenting current performance, identifying gaps, and producing a priority-ranked action plan
  • Develop and deliver a phased CPA improvement roadmap based on actual performance data, with clear milestones and testing hypotheses
  • Collaborate closely with the Brand Marketing team on the creative briefing process — ensuring growth channel requirements are built into briefs from the start, not adapted after the fact
  • Brief and manage the development of audience-specific landing pages, and drive CRO improvements on key conversion pages in partnership with the web team
  • Produce weekly and monthly performance reports that explain what happened, why it happened, and what should change next
  • Represent the growth function in senior business reviews and key stakeholder meetings

Required Experience

  • Japanese native speaker, and business-level English fluency required
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing digital growth channels — paid media (Meta and Google required), SEO, email, and/or affiliates
  • Proven experience managing or working within a consumer brand, entertainment, hospitality, retail, or high-volume B2C environment
  • Experience managing external agencies and vendors — briefing, performance management, and accountability
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive clear, actionable insights from performance data across multiple channels
  • Experience managing or mentoring at least one team member
  • Comfortable presenting to and working with senior client stakeholders
  • Based in Tokyo or willing to relocate. On-site presence required in the first few months during onboarding

Job Type: Full-time for 12 months

Work Setup: Hybrid remote and on-site

Location: Japan

🔸 Stay ahead of cultural shifts and understand how to respond with clarity and confidence.

🔸 Strengthen strategies, briefs, and audience experiences with real-world insight.

🔸 Make smarter decisions about what to say, where to say it, and who to say it to.

That’s how we help brands stay relevant—not just in theory, but in execution.

Our work is as strategic as it is soulful. As sharp as it is surprising. As global as it is grounded.

Clients include Apple, YouTube, Snap, Amazon, National Geographic, HarperCollins, Keith Richards (yes, that Keith Richards), and more.
