Job Description

As an Lincoln Janitorial Supervisor, you will be responsible for directing and managing the day-to-day janitorial operations for assigned facilities and campus buildings. This position provides leadership to a team of janitorial employees and is accountable for staffing, workforce deployment, employee performance, service quality, customer satisfaction, and operational execution. The Supervisor's primary duty is management of an assigned operational area through the leadership and direction of janitorial staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage daily janitorial operations across assigned buildings and facility areas.
  • Direct the work of assigned janitorial employees and establish priorities to ensure operational and contractual requirements are achieved.
  • Plan staffing levels, develop work schedules, allocate labor resources, and adjust staffing assignments based on business needs.
  • Supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate employee performance to drive operational effectiveness and service excellence.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and administer corrective action in accordance with company policies.
  • Participate in employee selection decisions and provide recommendations regarding hiring, promotion, discipline, transfer, and termination decisions that are given substantial weight by management.
  • Ensure assigned employees are properly trained and equipped to perform their responsibilities safely and effectively.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections, operational audits, and quality assurance reviews to verify compliance with service standards and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, client expectations, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Respond to and resolve operational, employee, and customer service issues affecting assigned facilities.
  • Monitor labor utilization, productivity, attendance, and workforce performance to ensure operational objectives are achieved.
  • Monitor inventory requirements and coordinate procurement activities for supplies, equipment, and operational materials.
  • Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and replacement planning of janitorial equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain operational records, staffing documentation, inspection reports, and performance metrics.
  • Coordinate activities with facility management, maintenance teams, vendors, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Lead operational support efforts related to special projects, events, facility incidents, weather events, and emergency response activities.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, employee development, teamwork, and customer service excellence.
  • Drive strong operational results through workforce leadership, employee accountability, coaching, and performance management.
  • Provide operational support and perform custodial activities on an occasional basis only as necessary to maintain service continuity during staffing shortages, emergencies, or other unusual circumstances.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, facilities, or related experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory, team leadership, or workforce management experience preferred.
  • Experience directing the work of multiple employees in a service, facilities, janitorial, or operations environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with employee performance management, coaching, staffing, and workforce leadership.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning methods, quality standards, equipment, chemicals, safety regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Experience scheduling staff, allocating labor resources, and monitoring operational performance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic reporting systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively resolve operational issues, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate employees while achieving operational objectives.

Frequent walking throughout campus facilities and buildings to inspect work, coach employees, and respond to operational needs. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and participate in cleaning activities when necessary.

This position is 100% in-office The role requires working in office during standard business hours. Remote work or telecommuting is not an option for this position.
