Job Summary
Janitorial Services Management
Direct/Manage/Supervise a team of housekeeping and janitorial staff in efforts to provide clean, orderly, and attractive conditions for the organization’s premises. Communicate and enforce departmental goals and standards. Assign personnel to work areas or project duties. Conduct inspections and quality assurance checks. Ensure that staff receives proper orientation, training, and ongoing education. Manage materials and equipment inventory and purchasing. Analyze and resolve escalated quality and customer service issues.

Responsibilities
Supervisor, Janitorial Services
  • Determines the proper distribution of employees and materials for a particular day’s cleaning problems by inspecting assigned building(s) to ensure an adequate cleaning job is done.
  • Gives general supervision by assigning tasks and reviewing work of one to five full-time and/or five to twenty part-time custodians and custodial workers which may be in one shift or two (four hour shifts) depending on the particular needs of the building in question.
  • Assist in training new crew members in the proper use of equipment and materials by demonstration and suggestion to ensure proper application of chemicals and minimum breakdown of equipment.

Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master’s (or equivalency) degree.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Supervisor, Janitorial Services: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master’s (or equivalency) degree.


Preferences
  • Two years of previous custodial experience
  • The ability to lift 50 lbs
  • The ability to climb a minimum of six feet on an authorized stepladder or scaffolding
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills needed.
  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are needed
  • Valid Driver’s License
