About the role: The Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of interior spaces throughout the facility, including offices, restrooms, breakrooms, conference rooms, and common areas. This role focuses on daily detailed cleaning and hygiene standards, ensuring a clean, safe, and professional environment for employees and visitors.

The Janitor works in close coordination with our other Janitor and the Porter, who supports warehouse and waste-handling functions, to ensure the facility remains clean, organized, and compliant with sanitation and safety standards.

This role is Part-Time (20 hours per week - Day Shifts) in our Mesa, AZ facility.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors.
• Clean and maintain breakrooms, kitchens, and eating areas.
• Dust, wipe, and disinfect desks, tables, counters, door handles, and high-touch surfaces.
• Vacuum carpets and mop hard floors in offices and common areas.
• Clean interior glass, windows, and doors.
• Refill restroom, kitchen, and janitorial supplies as needed.
• Monitor supply levels and report needs to Facilities or Operations leadership.
• Maintain janitorial closets and cleaning equipment in clean, organized condition.
• Empty trash and recycling from offices, restrooms, and common areas.
• Stage trash and recycling for pickup by the Porter.
• Ensure interior waste containers remain clean and odor-free.
• Assist with cleaning before and after meetings, trainings, and employee events.
• Support special cleaning requests as needed.
• Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or damaged equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures, sanitation standards, and OSHA guidelines.
• Properly use and store cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Wear PPE as required and maintain a safe, hazard-free environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Prior janitorial or commercial cleaning experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and follow cleaning schedules and instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability.
• Dependable attendance and positive work ethic.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch continuously for the entire scheduled shift (typically 8 hours), with only standard meal and rest breaks; this role requires being on your feet for virtually the entire shift and is an essential function of the role.
• Ability to lift and carry cleaning equipment, supplies, and full trash bags or receptacles weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to push and pull loaded cleaning carts, mop buckets, and vacuum equipment weighing up to 50 lbs across varied flooring surfaces.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions of the arms, wrists, and hands (mopping, wiping, scrubbing, vacuuming) throughout the shift.
• Ability to climb step stools or short ladders to clean elevated surfaces such as light fixtures, vents, and high shelving.
• Ability to frequently reach overhead and at floor level to clean surfaces, fixtures, and restroom facilities.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to safely handle cleaning tools, chemicals, and equipment controls.
• Near vision sufficient to identify dirt, stains, and areas requiring cleaning, and to read product labels and safety data sheets.
• Ability to tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, and odors, and to safely follow chemical handling and PPE guidelines.
• Ability to wear required PPE, including gloves, safety glasses, and slip-resistant closed-toe footwear.
• Compliance with all OSHA, sanitation, and plant safety requirements.
