Job Description

General Functions:

The employee in this position shall report to the Program Manager. The responsibilities are custodial in function, with coordination of cleanliness and sanitation of the facility and grounds and stock inventory. This job description may not include all duties, responsibilities, or aspects of the role. It may be amended at any time at the employer's sole discretion. Based on program and department needs, your schedule may change.

Scope of Duties:

1. Interact verbally and nonverbally with all clients, staff, and outside contacts professionally with respect and courtesy.
2. Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures.
3. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and training sessions and meetings as required.
4. Maintain cleanliness of internal structure daily. Assure the building and surrounding external areas are kept presentable.
5. Ensure all trash cans are emptied daily.
6. Ensure trash is properly discarded and that the dumpster does not present an unsanitary and unsightly view.
7. Sanitize trash cans and change liners weekly as needed.
8. Clean, deodorize, and sanitize bathrooms. Make certain they are appropriately supplied on a daily basis.
9. Report maintenance/supply needs to appropriate supervisor.
10. Clean windows and doors as needed.
11. Sweep, mop, dust mop floors and vacuum daily; strip, buff and finish floors when needed, shampoo rugs as needed.
12. Keep walkways free and clear of snow and other debris.
13. Keep all stairs and doorways free of obstruction.
14. Other duties as assigned.

ADA Essential Functions:

1. Occasionally required to smell, stoop.
2. Regularly required to use hands to handle or feel.
3. Regularly required to reach.
4. Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear.
5. Occasionally required to lift and move up to 75 lbs.
6. Regularly required to lift and move up to 25 lbs.
7. Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less.
8. Ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more.
9. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
10. Regularly required to climb stairs.

Credentials/Abilities:

The employee in this position must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a GED, and a minimum of two years of experience in janitorial/housekeeping. Since this position involves handling Protected Health Information, the candidate must comply with all aspects of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy and Security Rules. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
