The Janitor plays an important role in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming environments that support employees, customers, and operations. This position helps ensure facilities remain functional, organized, and compliant with cleanliness and safety standards while contributing to a positive workplace experience and mission success.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain cleanliness and order throughout assigned facilities and work areas.
  • Clean and sanitize rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other designated areas.
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors using manual and powered cleaning equipment.
  • Vacuum and clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
  • Dust furniture, fixtures, equipment, and work surfaces.
  • Polish metal fixtures and fittings to maintain appearance standards.
  • Clean walls, ceilings, windows, door panels, sills, and woodwork.
  • Empty wastebaskets and transport trash and waste to designated disposal areas.
  • Collect and transport recyclable materials from offices and common areas to assigned collection points.
  • Restock restroom and facility supplies as needed.
  • Perform minor facility support activities to maintain clean and operational spaces.
  • Follow established safety procedures and proper operation of cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, positive teamwork, and quality service in daily responsibilities.
  • Maintain appropriate workplace conduct and behavior in accordance with Didlake policies and standards.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; or
  • Minimum of six (6) months of related work experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to understand and carry out simple and detailed verbal instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to interact respectfully and effectively with coworkers with disabilities.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning practices, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform physical duties including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving materials throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely operate standard custodial equipment and tools.
