LOCATION:Sierra Vista, AZ

STATUS:Part time/ Non-Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid AZ state driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Able to read/understand and follow labels and directions
  • Working knowledge of cleaning equipment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good attention to detail and quality while working efficiently
  • Successful background clearance
  • Should be physically fit and be able to complete all assigned work efficiently
  • An understanding and acceptance of The Salvation Army’s mission, philosophy, and practices

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain building in a clean and orderly fashion, following a planned schedule of cleaning provided by the corps officers
  • Mop, buff and strip floors as necessary
  • Take the flags down for the day
  • Polish all office furniture and chapel weekly
  • Dust all hard surface areas and walls
  • Sweep and vacuum all flooring as scheduled
  • Empty trash daily (offices, kitchen, restrooms, etc.)
  • Clean all entrance doorways, including glass, framework and windows
  • Clean restrooms daily and thoroughly, including maintaining toilet tissue and paper towels
  • Clean light fixtures; including emergency exit lights
  • Set up, take down and arrange table/chairs for designated meetings and programs on time
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning equipment and supplies
  • Report supply needs to CO for ordering
  • Lock the property and leave the heat/air at certain temp before leaving for the day (ask CO)
  • Keep janitorial closet, washroom, washer and dryer, and storage areas clean
  • Clean pantry and throw away any debris as scheduled
  • Drive and pick up donations as needed
  • Assist with seasonal events when requested
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor as it relates to the position of janitor

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. A qualified person with a disability may request a modification or adjustment to the job or work environment in order to meet the physical requirements of the position.
