Job Description

The Salvation Army’s Cambridge Corps., is hiring a Custodian and offers the following benefit package to part-time employees:

Location 402 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, MA

Hours/week: 25 hours per week (Monday – Friday 8:00am – 1:00pm)

Exemption: Non-exempt

Pay Range $15.30 - $21.42 per hour

*starting pay varies depending on experience and qualifications*

The Custodian will clean and maintain all aspects of the Cambridge Corps.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide routine cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting of all interior and exterior building surfaces and furnishings.
  • Regular cleaning and sanitation of areas including restrooms and kitchen.
  • Provide furniture and equipment set-ups and take-downs in support of various programs and building uses.
  • Regular removal of trash and recyclables.
  • Regular cleaning and sweeping of exterior areas including sidewalks, and paved areas
  • Order and maintain appropriate inventories of cleaning products, supplies, and products such as paper towels, toilet paper, and soaps through the facility.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings as requested
  • Maintain the grounds including mowing, trimming, weeding, pruning, and irrigation repair and snow removal.
  • Provide hi-level cleaning of public areas such as lobbies and entry areas.
  • Provide minor and routine maintenance and repairs to building systems and grounds and keep records of this repairs
  • Maintain the appearance and functionality of the facilities and grounds including doors, windows, flooring, walls, ceiling and furnishings.
  • Ensure all equipment is inspected on a weekly basis; report needs for the timely repair of all equipment.
  • Ensure an adequate reserve of maintenance supplies; conduct regular inventory of all equipment and supplies.
  • Evaluate, assign, and supervisor community service volunteers
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent is required

Work Experience:

Minimum 1 year of related experience

  • Must be able to pay attention to detail
  • Must be able to manage schedule and work independently to complete all tasks
