Job Description

The ITSM Asset Manager is responsible for the governance, lifecycle management, optimization, and compliance of IT assets across the enterprise. This role partners with Infrastructure, Service Management, Procurement, Finance, Security, and business stakeholders to ensure accurate asset inventory, software compliance, cost optimization, and alignment with IT Service Management (ITSM) best practices.

The successful candidate will lead hardware and software asset management processes, maintain data integrity within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), support audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and service quality.

Key Responsibilities

IT Asset Management

  • Develop and maintain enterprise IT Asset Management (ITAM) policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of hardware and software assets, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, refresh, and disposal.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of IT assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Establish governance and controls for asset acquisition, assignment, transfer, and retirement.

ITSM & CMDB Management

  • Partner with Service Management teams to maintain the integrity and accuracy of asset and configuration data.
  • Support CMDB governance, reconciliation, and data quality initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment between asset records, configuration items (CIs), and service relationships.
  • Collaborate with Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management teams to improve operational effectiveness.

Software Asset Management & Compliance

  • Manage software licensing, usage monitoring, and compliance activities.
  • Conduct regular software audits and license reconciliation reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for software license optimization and cost savings.
  • Partner with vendors and procurement teams on renewals and contract management.
  • Driving business value and service delivery outcomes with the SAM solutions

Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and KPIs related to asset inventory, compliance, utilization, and lifecycle status.
  • Analyze trends and recommend process improvements and optimization opportunities.

Audit & Risk Management

  • Support internal and external audits related to IT assets and licensing.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, and organizational requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with asset management processes and controls.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive process maturity using ITIL and industry best practices.
  • Lead automation initiatives that improve asset tracking, data quality, and reporting.
  • Participate in IT transformation and service management improvement programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT Asset Management, Software Asset Management, CMDB administration, or IT Service Management.
  • 3+ years of experience working with enterprise ITSM platforms (ServiceNow preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of hardware and software asset lifecycle management.
  • Experience with software licensing and compliance management.
  • Experience supporting audits and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ITIL Foundation or higher certification.
