Job Description
The Senior Manager, Software & Controls Product Manager – China is responsible for defining, executing, and scaling the Software and Controls product strategy across the China market. This role serves as the regional owner for Software & Controls offerings, including SCADA, EPMS, digital power management, configuration tools, and embedded controls. This position acts as a critical bridge between global product teams and local market needs, ensuring alignment between global product roadmaps, regional customer needs, and commercial execution through to services
As the primary interface between the Sales, Sales Operations, Finance, and Global Offering, this role is responsible for pipeline growth, margin expansion, pricing strategy, and new product introduction success. The position combines product lifecycle leadership, market and customer intelligence, and regional P&L influence, while serving as a trusted advisor to customers and internal stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Strategy & Lifecycle Ownership
- Own the regional product strategy and lifecycle for Software & Controls solutions in China, from concept development and business case creation through launch, growth, and optimization.
- Translate regional customer requirements and market dynamics into clear product requirements and roadmap inputs for global Software & Controls teams.
- Lead regional input into NPDI and PLM processes, ensuring solutions are scalable, differentiated, and commercially viable.
Commercial Performance & Margin Leadership
- Drive visibility and accountability for pipeline, orders, sales, and margin performance related to Software & Controls offerings in China.
- Partner with Finance, Sales, and Product Lines to lead pricing strategies, value engineering (VAVE), cost-out initiatives, and margin improvement actions.
- Track post-launch performance of new software and controls offerings, including adoption, attach rates, and revenue realization.
Market, Customer & Competitive Intelligence
- Serve as the single source of truth for China market intelligence related to Software & Controls, including customer needs, demand drivers, and competitive positioning.
- Collect and synthesize voice-of-customer input from key accounts, partners, and regional sales teams.
- Identify emerging opportunities tied to data centers, AI, cloud, colocation, industrial, and electrification markets.
Sales Enablement & Go-to-Market Execution
- Partner with Sales, Sales Operations, and Technical Sales/Application Engineering to ensure effective sales enablement, configuration tools, value messaging, and solution positioning.
- Support major pursuits and strategic customers by acting as a trusted technical and commercial advisor.
- Ensure Software & Controls offerings integrate effectively into regional partner and channel business models.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as a regional leader for Software & Controls, aligning stakeholders across Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and Sales.
- Influence without direct authority in a matrixed global organization, ensuring regionalpriorities are clearly represented.
- Contribute to regional and global strategic planning cycles and executive reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or related field.
- 8–10+ years of experience in product management, product strategy, technical sales, business strategy, or related roles.
- Experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Power systems / electrical distribution
- SCADA / EPMS / BMS / industrial control systems
- Industrial automation or digital energy solutions
- Customer-facing experience in supporting projects or solutions (pre-sales, consulting, or product roles).
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional and executive stakeholders.
- Experience translating technical capabilities into customer value propositions.
- Excellent communication skills; comfortable engaging with customers and executives.
- Strong English communication skills (written and spoken), with the ability to work effectively with global stakeholders and native English speakers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (MBA or Engineering).
- Background in data center, energy management, critical infrastructure, or industrial power markets.
- Understanding of China market dynamics, standards, and customer landscape.
- Experience supporting global product roadmaps from a regional leadership role.
- Experience with configuration tools, digital platforms, or software-enabled solutions.
