
The ITS Programme Manager is a strategic and operational partner to the Head of IT & Technical Services (ITS), responsible for driving the delivery of the ITS portfolio, supporting strategy, and improving organisational effectiveness.
Key focus areas include:
ITS portfolio and roadmap delivery
Cross-functional programme leadership
Governance, reporting, risk management
Strategic planning and financial oversight and risk co-ordination
Duties and Responsibilities
ITS Project Portfolio
Define and maintain the ITS roadmap
Lead annual planning cycles
Oversee ITS portfolio governance and delivery
Lead cross-functional initiatives across ITS and the organisation
Ensure reporting and stakeholder visibility
Align initiatives with organisational strategy
Responsibilities beyond Portfolio Management
Lead budget planning and financial oversight
Drive operational improvements
Oversee licence management
Strengthen governance and committees
Represent ITS in risk and stakeholder forums
Leadership Responsibilities
Provide matrix leadership across projects

You have (Requirements)
6-7 years minimum relevant project management or business administration experience
An undergraduate degree (In IT or relevant fields) or demonstrable equivalent experience
Project management training: PRINCE 2, MSP or equivalent qualified
Be able to motivate, engage and lead project teams
Broad demonstrable experience of successfully supporting projects
Tailor expert knowledge to project needs and circumstance
Project management tools experience (e.g. Smartsheet/Alfresco)
Capable of working under own initiative
Persistence to carry tasks through to conclusion
Flexible and positive attitude
An ability to deal positively with change and adapt to new situations
Ability to constructively challenge ways of working and get support to change
Excellent verbal and written skills
Excellent planning and organisational skills

Hybrid Working At EMBL-EBI we are pleased to offer hybrid working options for all our employees. A dedicated desk will be available everyday, but most of our team work two days on site and three from home. Although flexibility to attend onsite meetings and events.
Contract length 3 years (renewable to maximum of 9 years)
Salary Grade 7 monthly salary starting at £4206 per month after tax but excluding pension and insurance contributions. Plus generous benefits.
