Job Description

As ITR HRSG Thermal Design & CC Performance Integration (m/f/d) you are responsible for acting as the subject matter expert in HRSG thermal design, combined cycle integration, and HRSG execution within the ITR Plant Performance team.

You ensure technical rigor and consistency across the full HDNU proposal and project lifecycle, from ITO through OTR closeout, while providing functional support to all regions as the ITO expert in HRSG thermal design and combined cycle performance.

You combine deep HRSG thermal design expertise with broader combined cycle performance knowledge to develop competitive, executable configurations. Your role includes providing HRSG SIM expertise, leading standardization and development for insourced HRSGs, maintaining execution models for outsourced scopes, and collaborating with pre-ITO, Product Management, and HRSG engineering at the intersection of thermodynamic rigor, system integration, and execution discipline.

Essential Functions:

  • Act as subject matter expert in HRSG thermal design and combined cycle (CC) integration, ensuring consistent, high-quality engineering across HDNU proposals and OTR projects
  • Lead HRSG thermal performance modeling, delivering optimized plant configurations, performance estimates, and economic evaluations
  • Operate the HRSG SIM tool, ensuring proper use, validation, and team guidance
  • Develop and deliver heat and mass balance diagrams for ITO and OTR phases
  • Apply CC performance expertise to support plant concept development, trade-off analysis, and cost-performance optimization
  • Guide and mentor engineers, strengthening capabilities in HRSG design, CC integration, and execution discipline
  • Own and maintain HRSG methodologies, standards, design practices, and templates
  • Interface with Product Engineering, SILs, and Product Management on design requirements, product evolution, and execution constraints
  • Promote best practices, lean mindset, strong decision-making, and a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Energy, Thermal Engineering, or related field
  • Strong expertise in HRSG thermal performance and steam cycle thermodynamics, including CC integration
  • Proficiency in HRSG SIM tool, including operation, validation, and user guidance
  • Experience in combined cycle performance analysis, heat balance development, and configuration optimization
  • Proven capability to support or lead HRSG scope across ITO and OTR phases

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with thermodynamic simulation tools (e.g , Ebsilon, Thermoflow, GateCycle or similar)
  • Solid understanding of HRSG performance risks and system interfaces
  • Systems-thinking mindset linking design decisions to plant performance and commercial outcomes
  • Strong communication skills to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable insights
  • Collaborative, improvement-driven mindset with focus on innovation, problem-solving, and continuous learning
