About the Role:

The Director of IT Training & Usability provides strategic leadership for the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of technology training and user experience across the health system. This role ensures digital innovations and tools are efficient, and optimized to support high-quality, safe delivery of patient care.
This leader will drive a modern, blended learning strategy, advance usability, and training delivery methods.This role will collaborate closely with clinical, revenue cycle, operational, and IT partners. A key focus of the role is ensuring technology is frontline-led, workflow aligned, and measurably impactful.The Director will establish and monitor outcomes tied to workflow efficiency, time savings, user satisfaction, and return on investments.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications:

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, or related field

  • Minimum Experience: 7+ years of experience in healthcare IT, clinical informatics, training, or related leadership roles. Experience with Epic or comparable EHR applications.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Preferred Licensure or other certifications: Nursing Informatics certification

  • Preferred Educational Requirements: Master’s degree (MSN, MBA, MHA, or related)

  • Preferred Experience: Strong understanding of clinical workflows, particularly nursing practice. Experience in usability and workflow optimization

  • Utilizes a variety of tools and data management strategies for problem-solving, planning, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and evaluating technical training planning and effectiveness.

  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills in mentoring and developing employees.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Defines and executes a system-wide strategy for IT training and usability aligned with organizational goals.

  • Serves as a thought leader in digital transformation, driving innovation in learning, adoption, and user experience.

Training & Workforce Enablement

  • Designs and implements a modern, blended learning ecosystem (virtual, on-demand, and innovative with latest AI technologies).

  • Ensures training programs are efficient, scalable, and competency-based while reducing time away from frontline care.

Usability & Experience

  • Partners with users to optimize workflows and enhance usability of clinical systems, with a strong focus on nursing practice.
  • Advocates for user-centered design principles across all technology initiatives.

Adoption, Analytics & ROI

  • Establishes measurable outcomes for training and usability initiatives, including adoption, efficiency gains, and satisfaction.

  • Demonstrates ROI through analytics tied to documentation reduction, productivity, and quality outcome

Frontline Engagement & Transformational Leadership

  • Builds strong relationships with users to ensure technology solutions are informed by real-world workflows.

  • Leads change through transparency, engagement, and a continuous improvement mindset.
