Job Description

Alamos Gold’s Island Gold is one of Canada’s highest grade and lowest cost gold mines. This underground operation is located just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa in Northern Ontario. Through ongoing exploration success, Island Gold’s Mineral Reserves and Resources have continued to grow in size and quality, and Alamos is now investing in a major expansion project which is expected to transform Island into one of the largest and most profitable mines in Canada with an 18-year mine life. This is a very exciting time at Island Gold, and we are searching for highly motivated and committed people to join our team!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the current technical environment, identify gaps and recommend technical solutions that are reliable, cost effective and that align with organizational priorities.
  • Review the existing technology infrastructure and recommend integrated technical solutions and technologies that meet business requirements, shield against technical failures or disruptions and take into consideration inter-site dependencies.
  • Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Work with stakeholders to define business and system requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and related RFP’s and ensure “best of breed” service and competitive pricing.
  • Act as a key resource for corporate IT projects and as the local project champion.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, and new technologies and determine whether they will add value to the mine and the potential return on investment.
  • Assist with the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all information systems, including servers, operating systems, hardware, software, storage area networks and backup systems.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • College or degree in a related field plus related certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • Effective ability to convey messages in an organized, clear and succinct way.
  • Strong technical knowledge of system and network operating systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • The individual should have demonstrated a high level of energy, self-motivation and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team effort.
  • Good communication skills, both orally and written with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.

Qualifications:

Must be able to work on location in Dubreuilville, Ontario. Rotational schedule is 7 days on and 7 days off.
