Job Description

Thenamaris (Ships Management) Inc. manages Tanker vessels, Thenamaris ConBulk Inc. manages bulk carriers and containerships, while Thenamaris LNG Inc. manages LNG and LPG carriers.

Thenamaris invites high caliber professionals to apply for the position of IT Systems Engineer within the Information Technology department.

The IT Systems Engineer is a key member of the IT Infrastructure team, supporting systems across Thenamaris-managed vessels and corporate offices The role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining a wide range of IT hardware and software - including servers, firewalls, switches, workstations, printers, operating systems, and core infrastructure services. The Engineer monitors system health, ensures reliability, and contributes to the secure and efficient operation of all environments. Regular interaction with both shore‑based staff and seafarers is required, ensuring smooth use of company IT systems and providing guidance to Masters and Chief Engineers. The role also collaborates closely with the Technical department on matters related to IT/OT convergence and plays an active role in strengthening the company’s cyber security posture, including supporting secure configurations, patching, and compliance with maritime cyber security requirements.

This is a permanent, on‑site position based in Athens (Vouliagmeni), Greece. Remote work is not available.

Travel to vessels and occasionally to shipyards is required for installations, maintenance, project work, and cyber‑related activities.

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma or university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in IT, with strong knowledge of systems engineering and administration (AD/Entra, Windows servers and workstations, storage, virtualization, networking, backup).
  • Previous experience in the maritime industry is mandatory.
  • Understanding of cyber security principles, secure configuration practices, patching processes, and infrastructure hardening.
  • Strong customer service orientation and a collaborative, team‑focused attitude.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as operational needs require.
