Job
Summary
The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of flyExclusive’s cloud platforms, servers, networks, and end-user systems, supporting approximately 678 employees across our Raleigh and Kinston, North Carolina locations. This role owns hands-on administration of the company’s Microsoft 365 environment — including identity, endpoint management, and messaging — alongside on-premises server and network infrastructure. The Systems Administrator monitors system health, enforces security policies, automates routine administration, and provides responsive escalation support across departments. Because flight operations run continuously, this position participates in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule and helps keep flyExclusive’s operations running safely and seamlessly in a fast-paced private aviation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as primary administrator for assigned infrastructure and cloud platforms, overseeing their configuration, maintenance, and performance
- Administer Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, including user and group lifecycle management, onboarding and offboarding, Conditional Access, and multi-factor authentication
- Manage endpoint configuration, compliance policies, and application deployment through Microsoft Intune across Windows and macOS devices
- Administer Exchange Online, including mail flow, distribution groups, shared mailboxes, and transport rules
- Proactively monitor, patch, and optimize systems to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine administration, bulk changes, and reporting
- Manage company-wide data backup and disaster recovery for both on-premises systems and the Microsoft 365 cloud environment — including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams data — covering retention configuration, recovery point and recovery time objectives, and periodic restore testing
- Maintain and track an accurate inventory of hardware, software, and license assignments
- Ensure the integrity and security of systems and data, including access control, least-privilege review, and patch management
- Support information technology general control requirements, including periodic user access reviews, change documentation for privileged and production systems, and retention of evidence for internal and external audit
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software for servers, workstations, conference room systems, and business applications
- Serve as a technical point of contact for hardware, software, and service vendors — opening and driving support cases, coordinating vendor-led troubleshooting and remediation, and validating fixes
- Provide escalation support to the IT Support team and collaborate on recurring issue resolution
- Participate in the rotating after-hours on-call schedule, providing continuous support coverage for time-critical operational issues
- Participate in research, evaluation, and rollout of new tools, platforms, and system strategies aligned with business needs
- Perform routine audits of systems and software to ensure compliance and optimal performance
- Maintain documentation for system processes, configurations, and standards
- Support technology deployment and standardization at company sites, including new office buildouts
- Drive self-initiated improvement efforts to streamline and enhance system functionality
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 3–5 years of hands-on systems administration experience in a production business environment
- Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (Azure AD), including Conditional Access, multi-factor authentication, and user lifecycle management
- Experience with endpoint management for Windows and macOS using Microsoft Intune or a comparable MDM platform
- Experience administering Exchange Online, including mail flow troubleshooting, distribution groups, and transport rules
- Proficiency with PowerShell for automation, bulk administration, and reporting
- Working knowledge of Windows Server, virtualization, and core networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN)
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery for both on-premises systems and Microsoft 365 cloud data, including restoring mailboxes, SharePoint Online and OneDrive content, and Teams data
- Experience with endpoint security and software patching
- Willingness and ability to participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule, including responding to emergency issues within 30 minutes during assigned rotations
- Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and platforms independently
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to issue resolution

- Hands-on experience administering Ubiquiti UniFi network appliances, including switching, wireless access points, and controller management
- Hands-on experience administering Fortinet appliances, including FortiGate firewall policy, VPN configuration, and firmware management
- Hands-on experience with AvePoint Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365, or a comparable third-party Microsoft 365 backup and recovery platform
