System Engineer – Patch Management (Windows / SCCM)
Global Blue’s Compute Services team is looking for a skilled and motivated System Engineer with strong, broad IT infrastructure knowledge.
About the Role
The role will focus primarily on Windows patch management using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). You will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for patch management across Global Blue, responsible for maintaining a secure and up‑to‑date server and client environment.
Experience with Citrix environments is a plus but not required — interest and willingness to learn are also valued.
Key Responsibilities
Patch Management (Primary Focus)
· Act as service owner / SME for Windows patching using SCCM (Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager) or other technology.
· Plan, schedule, deploy, and monitor security and quality updates for Windows servers and clients.
· Optimize and maintain SCCM infrastructure components related to patching.
· Develop and implement patching strategies, baselines, compliance reporting, and automation.
· Troubleshoot update failures and work with application/operations teams to ensure timely remediation.
· Ensure patching standards meet corporate security policies and compliance requirements.
Citrix
· Support Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops and VDI environments (user sessions, apps, VDAs, profiles).
· Updates, troubleshooting, and performance optimization in Citrix environments.
Compute Services Engineering
· Support Global Blue’s IT infrastructure (Windows Server, RHEL, VMware).
· Collaborate closely with security, network and application teams.
· Possibility to participate in on‑call rotation.
· Contribute to automation using PowerShell or similar scripting tools.
· Maintain detailed operational documentation and runbooks.
Required Qualifications
Solid experience as a System Engineer, preferably in enterprise environments.
Strong knowledge of:
· Windows Server administration
· SCCM for software updates and device management
· Update compliance, WSUS, distribution points
· Broad understanding of IT infrastructure (networking basics, virtualization, monitoring, security fundamentals).
· Hands‑on troubleshooting skills and structured problem‑solving abilities.
· Experience with PowerShell or scripting for automation.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops, VDI, FSLogix, and similar technologies.
· Familiarity with patching in hybrid/cloud environments (Azure).
· Understanding of vulnerability management tools (Qualys, etc.).
· ITIL knowledge.
