Description
Remote with Travel- Contract IT Support Technician – Break/Fix & On-Site Support
Justus Property Management, Inc. is seeking an experienced and dependable Contract IT Support Technician to provide as-needed technical support for our corporate office and approximately 175 property locations throughout Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, supporting approximately 200 Google Workspace user accounts.
This is a remote, contract / break-fix hourly position and is not a traditional full-time IT role. The majority of technical support will be provided remotely; however, travel to company and property locations throughout Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky is required when hands-on assistance is necessary.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience supporting a multi-location business environment, administering and troubleshooting Google Workspace, resolving hardware and network issues, managing technology assets, and assisting employees with varying levels of technical experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide remote technical support for approximately 175 company and property locations, with on-site support when required.
- Provide technical and account support for approximately 200 Google Workspace accounts.
- Administer and troubleshoot Google Workspace, including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, user accounts, security settings, and related applications.
- Assist with Google Workspace user setup, account changes, password and login issues, account recovery, and access issues.
- Assist with Google Workspace security administration, including multi-factor/2-Step Verification and account security issues.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding by establishing, modifying, suspending, or securing technology access as directed by the company.
- Diagnose and resolve computer, hardware, software, printer, scanner, internet, network, and connectivity issues.
- Troubleshoot desktops, laptops, monitors, docking stations, printers, scanners, and other office technology.
- Troubleshoot Wi-Fi, routers, switches, network connections, and internet connectivity.
- Set up, configure, replace, and troubleshoot computers and related equipment.
- Evaluate hardware needs and recommend appropriate computers, monitors, printers, networking equipment, peripherals, and other technology.
- Order approved computer hardware, equipment, and technology supplies for company and property locations.
- Coordinate hardware purchases, replacements, warranties, repairs, and equipment delivery as needed.
- Maintain an accurate hardware inventory and asset-tracking system for company technology equipment.
- Track computers, monitors, printers, networking equipment, and other applicable technology assets by location.
- Maintain applicable asset information, including equipment type, make/model, serial number, purchase date, assigned property/location, warranty information, and replacement or disposal status.
- Document equipment transfers between properties and maintain accurate records when equipment is reassigned, replaced, returned, or removed from service.
- Assist management in identifying aging or obsolete equipment and planning for future hardware replacements.
- Ensure retired equipment is appropriately documented and company data is securely removed prior to disposal or recycling.
- Install and configure approved software and business applications.
- Troubleshoot browser, login, password, email, and user-access issues.
- Diagnose equipment failures and determine whether equipment should be repaired or replaced.
- Coordinate with internet service providers, software vendors, hardware vendors, and other third-party providers when necessary.
- Assist with new property, office, workstation, and technology setups as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of service requests, work performed, time spent, equipment serviced, and recommended follow-up.
- Communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to employees and management.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and protect company, employee, resident, and other sensitive information when accessing company systems or equipment.
- Perform other technology-related troubleshooting and support as requested.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Previous professional IT support experience is required.
- Demonstrated experience administering and supporting Google Workspace in a business environment is required.
- Experience with the Google Admin console, including user administration, security settings, account access, and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting a multi-user and preferably multi-location organization.
- Experience evaluating, purchasing, configuring, and deploying business computer hardware and related technology.
- Experience with IT asset management, hardware inventory, or equipment tracking preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with Windows-based computers and common office technology.
- Experience troubleshooting printers, scanners, Wi-Fi, network connectivity, and peripheral devices.
- Working knowledge of networking, including routers, switches, Wi-Fi, IP connectivity, and internet troubleshooting.
- Ability to diagnose technical problems independently and determine appropriate solutions.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical employees in a professional and understandable manner.
- Must be dependable, responsive, organized, and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
- Must understand the importance of data security, account security, confidentiality, and appropriate access controls.
Remote Work & Travel Requirements
- This is a remote position with support primarily provided by phone, email, remote-access tools, and other electronic communication.
- The contractor must maintain a reliable internet connection and appropriate workspace to provide remote technical support.
- Must be willing and able to travel to company locations throughout Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky when on-site technical assistance is required.
- Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and appropriate automobile insurance.
- Travel frequency will depend on the technical needs of individual locations.
- The contractor must be able to determine when an issue can be resolved remotely and when an on-site visit is necessary.
- Mileage reimbursement, travel time, and other applicable travel arrangements will be established as part of the contractor agreement.
Work Arrangement
This is a remote, independent contractor / break-fix hourly opportunity. There are no guaranteed weekly hours. Services will be requested based on the company's technology support needs.
Work may include remote troubleshooting and support, scheduled on-site service calls, urgent technical issues, equipment installation and replacement, hardware purchasing and deployment, hardware inventory and asset management, new property or workstation setup, Google Workspace administration, and general technology troubleshooting and repair.
The contractor will be expected to communicate availability and provide reasonable response times when service is requested.
Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience and the agreed-upon hourly or service-call rate. Travel time, mileage reimbursement, minimum service-call charges, after-hours rates, and other applicable expenses will be established in the contractor agreement.
Physical Requirements
The position may require the ability to lift and carry computers, monitors, printers, and other technology equipment; work underneath desks or in equipment areas; connect and disconnect cables and equipment; and perform other physical tasks associated with computer and network installation and troubleshooting.
