About Us

Welcome to Barry Nilsson. For 60 years, we’ve been shaping a better experience for our clients and our people. What sets our firm apart is not just what we do, but who we are: a team known for its collaborative spirit and commitment to excellence, inclusion, and innovation. As an award-winning national law firm, we’ve built a culture that empowers you to not only grow your career, but be your authentic self while you do it.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced IT Support Technician to join our Perth team. This hands-on role provides up to 2nd level support across all offices, with a particular focus on our Perth location. You’ll deliver both onsite and remote assistance, ensuring staff can work efficiently and seamlessly.

This role blends technical troubleshooting, user engagement, and process improvement in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.

The key responsibilities for this role are:

  • providing onsite and remote IT support to staff across all offices, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues;
  • acting as a key point of contact for helpdesk queries, resolving issues efficiently or escalating when required;
  • onboarding new users and managing user accounts;
  • deploying, maintaining, and supporting laptops, multi-function printers and mobile devices;
  • managing and troubleshooting application issues including iManage and Microsoft Office 365;
  • assisting with the setup and support of video conferences and AV equipment across offices;
  • supporting the maintenance and deployment of the firm’s Standard Operating Environment (SOE);
  • maintaining accurate documentation and assisting in the upkeep of the firm’s intranet and IT asset register; and
  • collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to understand business needs and drive improvements in IT service delivery.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings both technical capability and a genuine commitment to exceptional service.

You’ll ideally have:

  • at least 5 years of experience in an IT support or helpdesk role within a legal or professional services environment;
  • relevant industry certifications or a sound understanding of Windows desktop;
  • experience with client PC connectivity, including patching, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and VPN;
  • strong skills in managing and supporting systems such as iManage (or similar DMS), Microsoft 365, and AV technologies;
  • proficiency in setting up and maintaining hardware such as desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices;
  • excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive, customer-focused approach;
  • experience with MS Teams Voice (desirable but not essential);
  • experience working with any Legal practice management applications (Aderant would be advantageous); and
  • a collaborative mindset, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment

Benefits of Working with Us

Just to name a few, we have:

  • been acknowledged as an ‘Employer of Choice’ for the last 8 years;
  • a supportive environment where managers genuinely care about your wellbeing;
  • opportunities for structured mentorship and continuous professional development;
  • progressive policies including a 9.5-day fortnight, working from home, purchase of leave options, volunteer leave, and a public holiday swap policy;
  • an annual performance bonus scheme designed to recognise and reward strong performance;
  • a relaxed office environment where you can “Dress for your Day”;
  • access to our Health & Wellbeing program, BNWell, which supports the mental, physical and financial wellbeing of our people including a yearly health & wellbeing allowance and a health & wellbeing leave day; and
  • a shared care parental policy with equal leave for all parents.
