Job Title: IT Support Intern

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the IT Support Intern will provide hands-on support for corporate office end users, assisting with day-to-day technical operations and ensuring IT services continue to meet the needs of the business.

This role is an excellent opportunity for a student or early-career IT professional to gain practical experience supporting a modern Microsoft-based environment. The individual will work closely with the Skeena IT team to deliver high-quality end-user support, maintain accurate IT asset records, and execute standardized IT processes.

As part of a performance-driven, user experience-centric IT team, the individual will demonstrate a proactive mindset, attention to detail, and a strong willingness to learn. The role requires a customer-service orientation, with a focus on delivering timely, friendly, and effective support to office-based staff.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

End-User IT Support

  • Provide in-person IT support to a corporate user base of approximately 50 employees
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic technical issues related to Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint)

Hardware & Device Support

  • Support and troubleshoot physical hardware including laptops, monitors, docking stations, peripherals, and video conferencing equipment
  • Assist with setup, configuration, and deployment of end-user devices, including new hire laptop builds following documented processes

IT Operations & Asset Management

  • Maintain and update IT asset inventories, including hardware and software trackers
  • Execute routine IT procedures and tasks in accordance with established documentation and standards

Collaboration & Meeting Support

  • Assist with meeting room and collaboration technology setup and troubleshooting

Escalation & Documentation

  • Escalate issues as required and collaborate with internal IT team members and vendors
  • Contribute to documentation updates, including user guides, inventories, and process improvement

Additional Responsibilities

  • All other duties as reasonably assigned

The Ideal Candidate

Education / Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in (or recently completed) a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or minimum 1 year of relevant IT support experience
  • Interest in pursuing certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA)

Experience / Skills:

  • Basic familiarity with supporting and troubleshooting Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 applications, iOS and Android devices
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365 administration or cloud-based IT environments
  • Experience documenting processes or maintaining structured records
  • Experience providing in-person or service desk support in an office environment
  • Familiarity with automated device setup, endpoint management, or inventory systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow documented processes
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Passion, curiosity, and a willingness to learn and grow in an IT career

Work Locations & Conditions

This is an office-based job, in Skeena’s Corporate office located in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Monday to Friday schedule. Additionally, the job is in a fast paced, and at times stressful working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. Some flexibility in work location may be considered.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is CAD $20-24/hour, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines, and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
