Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide IT Helpdesk support for the college’s administration, faculty, and staff.
- Assist in tracking, troubleshooting, and resolving reported issues with computers, monitors, projectors, printers, software, and network access for equipment belonging to the college or any of the departments within the college.
- Assist in tracking, troubleshooting, and assisting in resolving issues with user access to the campus network and software licensed.
- Assist in maintaining a centralized inventory of computers, monitors, projectors, printers, video conferencing equipment, network equipment and related items owned by the college or any of the departments within the college.
- Using predefined procedures, assist in setting up, configuring, and installing computers, monitors, projectors, printers, video conferencing equipment, network equipment, and related items owned by the college and any of the departments within the college.
- Using predefined procedures, assists in patching, updating, and reconfiguring hardware and software to help maintain compliance and security of computers and related equipment owned by the college and any of the departments within the college.
- Assist in maintaining a knowledge base of frequently asked questions and solutions to common questions asked by the college’s end-users.
- Assisting in creating and updating the content on the HonCC ITS website.
- Assist with technology requests for special events and meetings held throughout the campus.
- Assist with the timely removal and processing of electronic waste for disposal throughout the campus.
- Assist in the collection and replacement of printer toner cartridges for printers / copiers covered under campus support contracts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or related field and no additional years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience are required; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and applications demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply principles, concepts, methodology and terminology.
- Functional knowledge and understanding of technology, systems, hardware and software associated with computer support.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve routine problems.
- Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret and implement administrative directives and guidance to ensure IT operations align with organizational standards and industry best practices.
Desirable Qualifications
- One or more years of experience working with IT as a help desk support technician or similar position.
- Working knowledge of current and recent Windows operating systems.
- Working knowledge of current and recent MacOS operating systems.
- Working knowledge of current and recent Linux, ChromeOS, and Android operating systems,
- Experience answering the phones and opening trouble tickets for IT support.
- Scripting and/or programming experience.
