About the Role
Join a leading European energy infrastructure organization and help shape the future of the electricity grid. As an IT Solutions Architect within the Assets (Onshore) domain, you will play a key role in driving digital innovation and supporting the energy transition through scalable, future-proof IT solutions.
In this role, you will contribute directly to the modernization and expansion of the Dutch high-voltage electricity grid by designing and optimizing complex IT and integration landscapes that support critical infrastructure projects and grid operations.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, hands-on IT architect with strong expertise in solution architecture, integration architecture, and legacy-to-target environment migrations.
About the Organisation
This organization is a major European Transmission System Operator (TSO), responsible for ensuring a reliable and secure electricity supply across large parts of the Netherlands and Germany. The company plays a critical role in enabling the European energy transition through innovation, infrastructure development, and digital transformation initiatives.
You will join the Digital & Technology Transformation – Assets unit within the Onshore domain, where teams focus on digital solutions supporting the development, maintenance, and optimization of the onshore electricity grid.
Key Responsibilities
Design and guide the implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performing IT and integration solutions
Translate business requirements into sustainable technical architectures aligned with enterprise architecture standards
Support the development and maintenance of application and technical landscapes
Drive modernization initiatives and help reduce technical debt
Support application lifecycle management, including upgrades and vendor evaluations
Perform fit-gap analyses for SaaS and COTS solutions
Introduce innovative technologies that improve operational efficiency and support grid expansion
Collaborate with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, platform teams, and operational delivery teams
Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and end-to-end thinking across teams
Requirements
Experience & Skills
University degree in a technical field and/or Business Administration
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in:
IT Architecture
Digital Transformation
Application Management
IT Delivery
Experience within the energy or utilities sector is highly preferred
Strong knowledge of:
Complex application landscapes
Asset management
Agile methodologies
IT governance and compliance
Proven experience with data- and digital-enabled transformations
Experience working in waterfall, agile, and hybrid delivery environments
Experience with strategic sourcing and collaborating with nearshore/offshore service providers
Dutch language skills are a plus but not mandatory

We are specifically seeking a technically hands-on IT Architect with strong solution and integration architecture expertise
Experience with legacy-to-target migrations is essential
Practical Details
Location: Arnhem, Netherlands (Hybrid)
Hybrid model: 50/50 remote and office-based
Mandatory office days: Tuesday and Wednesday
Preferred availability: 40 hours per week
Interview process: 1–2 interview rounds
A valid Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and Pre-Employment Screening (PES) are required before onboarding
