About the Role

We’re looking for an IT Service Desk Support Specialist to join our onsite Managed Services team supporting one of our key Federal Government clients.

You’ll be the front line of technical support, solving problems, keeping systems running smoothly, and ensuring every user receives a high‑quality and professional experience. This role offers variety, hands‑on work, and the chance to contribute to meaningful service improvements, including automation, self‑service enhancements, and modern support workflows.

If you’re someone who enjoys fixing issues, helping people, and continuously improving the way IT services are delivered, this is the perfect next step.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver timely L1/L2 technical support for hardware, software, and network issues across desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Work as part of an integrated service desk and desktop support team providing coverage from 08:00–18:00, with occasional on‑call rotations.
  • Perform troubleshooting, device configuration, application setup, and system maintenance activities.
  • Manage Windows‑based environments including updates, patches, installations, and upgrades.
  • Conduct hardware diagnostics and basic repairs.
  • Support continual service improvement through automation ideas, workflow refinement, documentation, and self‑service enhancements.

Eligibility

  • Australian Citizenship is mandatory
  • Active Baseline clearance (or higher), or the ability to obtain one
  • Must be able to work 100% onsite in Canberra, ACT

Why Join xAmplify?

We’re proud to be recognised as a Great Place to Work (2024 & 2025) — and we’re aiming for it again in 2026. We offer:

  • Flexible working options where possible, with strong support for wellbeing and family balance.
  • Employer‑funded perks, benefits, rewards, and recognition through Employment Hero.
  • Strong career pathways and professional development opportunities — including certifications and growth into areas like automation, cyber, cloud or advanced support.
  • A connected national team with regular engagement, support, and learning opportunities.
  • A culture grounded in diversity, inclusion, and community impact through the xAmplify Foundation.

What You Bring

  • Prior experience in a fast‑paced Service Desk or desktop support environment, government experience highly valued.
  • Strong knowledge of desktop/laptop hardware, Windows OS, and common workplace software (e.g. Office 365).
  • Good understanding of network fundamentals and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow (desirable but not essential).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to support users at all technical levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage changing priorities.
  • A collaborative approach, positive attitude, and a passion for solving problems.
