IT Program Manager Job Description

The IT Program Manager is responsible for overseeing a group of related projects and larger scale individual projects that support broader business goals. Responsibilities include ensuring that each project within the program is aligned, delivered on time, and stays within budget. The IT Program Manager will work closely with project managers for whom they have project delivery accountability, internal and external technical teams, Business Relationship Managers, and other relevant stakeholders across Duracell Sectors and Segments to coordinate delivery efforts and resolve issues. The IT Program Manager will also track performance metrics and manage risks to ensure cohesive program execution and successful outcomes.

As an IT Program Manager, many of your essential duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Developing a detailed program plan for each initiative; monitoring and tracking progress against that plan; measuring performance using appropriate tools and techniques.

  • Coordinating cross-functional teams and resources to ensure efficient execution and collaboration across programs.

  • Developing and managing program budgets, schedules, and resource plans to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.

  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks and issues that may impact program and associated project success.

  • Communicating program status, progress, and key updates to stakeholders and executive leadership.

  • Ensuring that all programs and associated projects adhere to Duracell IT PMO governance standards, compliance requirements, and quality expectations.

  • Driving continuous improvement by analyzing program performance metrics and implementing best practices and using appropriate tools and techniques.

  • Partnering with Change Management resources to ensure smooth adoption of new systems, processes, or technologies introduced by the program.

  • Defining and tracking project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting weekly on an overall integrated delivery plan.

  • Ensuring assigned programs and projects are delivered on time, on budget, with quality and in accordance with the Duracell Project Methodology.

  • Escalating pending decisions and significant issues to program sponsors, when necessary, in a timely fashion.

  • Serving as single point of contact for program level questions and status.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong ability to establish and maintain effective strategic working relationships with peers and constituents at all levels or the organization.

  • Experience interfacing with all levels of business leadership providing program status, presenting significant issues and the alternatives to resolve, and attain approval for recommendations.

  • Solid functional background related to IT initiatives with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development, systems administration, or infrastructure engineering.

  • Strong demonstrated leadership of direct and indirect teams and associated leadership, mentoring and supervisory skills.

  • Exceptional organizational skills include a high level of attention to detail and multitasking skills.

  • Excellent program management and team leadership skills.

  • Exceptional working knowledge of MS Office applications, most notably Microsoft Project, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to be a technical strategic thought leader as well as a “hands on” implementer.

  • Prior experience working within the consulting industry is a plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to travel globally when needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a concentration in the field of computer science or related technical discipline.

  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience required managing IT related programs and projects, leveraging Waterfall and Hybrid Agile methodologies.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Project for project scheduling and tracking

  • PMP certification (preferred but not required).

  • Previous experience managing ERP programs and projects is a plus.
