IT Security Analyst

Permanent, Full-Time | Melbourne or Sydney

We have an exciting opportunity for an IT Security Analyst to join the Heartland Bank Australia team based in Melbourne or Sydney, Australia.

At Heartland Bank Australia, we are committed to protecting our customers, our people, and our systems. We are looking for an IT Security Analyst to support the ongoing delivery of our information security program and help maintain a strong security posture across the organisation.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Technology & Information Security, you will play a key role in monitoring threats, managing vulnerabilities, and supporting security operations across the Bank. You will work closely with Technology teams, vendors, and Risk & Compliance to ensure our environment remains secure and compliant, including alignment to APRA CPS 234.

What you’ll do

  • Monitor and analyse security alerts, logs, and third-party reports, triaging and responding to potential threats

  • Support investigation and resolution of security incidents, including documentation and post-incident reviews

  • Run and analyse vulnerability scans and coordinate remediation activities

  • Track patching activity and support compliance with CPS 234 and internal policies

  • Partner with internal teams and vendors to maintain and improve security controls

  • Assist with penetration testing and track remediation of findings

  • Contribute to security reporting, metrics, and governance forums

  • Support access management processes, including reviews and audits

  • Maintain security documentation such as risk registers and runbooks

  • Contribute to security awareness and training initiatives across the business

What you’ll bring:

Essential

  • Experience in cyber security, information security, or IT roles with a security focus

  • Exposure to security monitoring tools (e.g. SIEM) or vulnerability management platforms

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Desirable

  • Security certifications (e.g. CompTIA Security+, CySA+)

  • Experience with APRA CPS 234 or regulated environments

  • Exposure to cloud security (Azure or AWS)

  • Understanding of vulnerability, incident, and patch management practices
