Job Description

Conducts independent research in a specific scientific area, designs experiments, analyzes data, and presents findings. Oversees and assists junior research staff and students. Essential Functions:

  • Designs experiments, develops protocols, and conducts independent research. Develops project aims, objectives, and experimental techniques.
  • Supervises and mentors junior research staff and students. Trains and supervises technical support staff in performing specific techniques essential to carrying out the research program.
  • Records and analyzes data generated by the research study. Develops hypotheses for further investigation from the results of the studies performed.
  • Independently prepares scientific and technical papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Presents findings at local and national research forums. Writes first drafts of grant proposals and manuscripts. May be CO-PI on grant applications.
  • Collaborates with other ongoing research efforts either at NCH or at The Ohio State University.
  • Prepares to submit proposals to and obtain funding from external granting agencies.

PhD or equivalent degree in relevant field of science, required.
