Job Description

of Essential Functions

  • Leads critical Information Services projects while coordinating with stakeholders and vendors to implement technology solutions on time and within budget. Responsibilities include: project plan, communication plan, allocating tasks and setting milestones.

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

License/Certifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred or commitment to complete within first year of employment
  • Lean and six sigma certification(s) preferred or commitment to complete within first year of employment

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • 3+ years direct project management experience, leading a variety of types of projects common in healthcare.
  • Agile Project Management experience preferred
  • Create & manage project plans
  • Define project schedules, allocate resources and monitor progress
  • Align project objectives with company goals, and make sure project team is clear on objectives
  • Deliver and install technology solutions
  • Help project team with the design and development tasks
  • Lead process of issue identification and resolution
  • Manage risk tracking process
  • Monitor and manage project scope
  • Manage all project documentation
  • Work multiple projects within the company’s project portfolio simultaneously
  • Foster partnership with customers, stakeholders, vendors, and sponsors
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate at all levels of the organization
  • Analyze data to determine working baselines and establish meaningful metrics for projects
  • Working knowledge of a wide variety of hospital operations

Physical Requirements

  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing, along with frequent bending, stooping or stretching
  • May require lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity so as to be capable of accurately utilizing a computer keyboard
  • Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols, along with normal vision range

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works closely with United Regional’s Project Management Office and PMO processes to support the organization’s strategic plan and to uphold current best practices of Project Management, including appropriate application of lean tools
  • Works closely with Information Services Division and project stakeholders to facilitate acceptable project outcomes
  • Assist with development and maintains budget for Information Technology projects
  • Anticipates and responds proactively to unforeseen conditions by recognizing trends, establishing priorities, coordinating projects, resources and implementing plans
  • Establishes a climate of collaboration, trust, respect, and teamwork, defining and communicating expectations and assisting staff in the achievement of outcomes
  • Level of direct involvement in projects is determined by the project’s strategic importance, level of risk, and assessed skill of the project leadership and team members. At a minimum, the IS Project Manager will:
    • Maintain an understanding of the “big picture” and relationships between technology projects.
    • Conduct periodic review of projects to ensure they are on the desired track to success.
    • Report overall status of projects to PMO and other operational committees as appropriate
    • Assist managers to identify and escalate project issues as needed
    • Assist to escalate identified personnel issues through the chain of command as appropriate, where such issues pose risk to the project’s success
