Job Description


Red Ember Recruitment is looking for a Procurement Buyer to be based at our client in Pinelands, Cape Town.


Key Responsibilities


  • Liaise with suppliers to confirm estimated time of arrivals (ETAs) and stock on hand (SOH).

  • Compile 2-week run rates based on item usage and sales statistics.

  • Perform regular price checks and updates to ensure competitiveness with major retailers.

  • Build and maintain supplier relationships to ensure reliability and collaboration.

  • Ensure on-demand items are consistently in stock when available from suppliers.

  • Place orders for all sales staff and across multiple locations.

  • Process customer credit invoices promptly and accurately.

  • Write off inventory used internally.

  • Process supplier credits and manage related documentation.

  • Coordinate supplier and internal staff training sessions as required.

  • Assist with marketing promotions from a procurement perspective.

  • Book in trade-in items and manage associated records.

  • Source new products and suppliers to enhance product offerings and supplier performance.

  • Return aged stock to suppliers for credit or redistribution to fast-selling lines.


Requirements


  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and
    maintain effective relationships.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Basic numeracy, accurate in performing simple calculations
    (add, subtract, multiply, divide).

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple procurement related
    tasks simultaneously.

  • Confident telephonic communication skills.

  • Computer literate.

  • Skilled negotiator with a focus on securing cost-effective
    and beneficial terms.

  • Well-organised with strong time management and attention to
    detail.
