What You Will Be Doing
As the OIT Portfolio Manager, you will guide the Office of Information Technology's work from concept to delivery applying LEAN-based practices and maturing OIT's enterprise portfolio management approach. You will connect statewide priorities to real progress, ensuring new work is well-defined, compliant, strategically aligned, and ready for execution.
For key enterprise scaled initiatives, such as myAlaska Mobile Application improvements, you will provide hands-on support to ensure delivery of initiatives like the build out of Agentic AI empowered features that support improved citizen to government interactions.
As part of planned maturity efforts, you will support the scale out of OIT's LEAN strategic planning framework to other departments so incoming requests are clear, measurable, and anchored to statewide strategic priorities and plans.
You will accomplish all of this in partnership with Strategy & Governance section leaders, including the GRC CTO, the Strategy & Governance Manager, the Cloud Innovation & Governance Manager, the Enterprise Architect, and other OIT leaders outside the section. You will supervise an IT Policy and Planning Analyst and a Business Services Project Manager 2 to keep operational activity and value delivery execution running smoothly. Your work ensures OIT’s portfolio remains organized, transparent, cost-aware, and consistently aligned with governance priorities and statewide value delivery expectations.

The Working Environment You Can Expect
Daily, you will use Office 365, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and other tools to manage enterprise-wide initiatives and projects. You will work closely with the Strategy and Agency Services section deputy and other members of the OIT leadership team. Your oversight and management work will enable coordination of work streams to meet high-profile, customer-facing deliverables. You will collaborate with stakeholders inside and outside of OIT, including key stakeholders within other departments. Your clear, organized, and factual approach will be responsive to customer challenges and ensure those customers get the anticipated value out of the OIT services they depend on.
OIT has offices in downtown Juneau, 5th Floor State Office Building, and in downtown Anchorage at the Bayview Building on Ship Creek Ave. This position is suitable for a hybrid telework with commitment to in-office collaboration where needed, based on demonstrated abilities to deliver and meet expectations.
