The IT Pharmacist maintains clinical application systems for pharmaceutical support services provided by pharmacy staff, Nursing and other operational staff as needed. Responsible for evaluation, design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computerized pharmacy information. This position will also work with the Clinical Informatics team to serve as liaison to Virtua’s Clinical Pharmacy leadership and staff.
Responsible for daily routine maintenance of any Information System related to Patient Medication Workflow and the Virtua Pharmacy Department.
Assist in coordinating and monitoring the implementation and utilization of the systems to ensure the systems work efficiently and according to design.
Supports and troubleshoots all computer related needs at the request of management.
Coordinates design, build and implementation of routine data base modification.
Assists in performance of necessary system upgrades.
Collaborates with Information Services and Change Management to maintain system integrity.
Supports emerging technology and periodically reevaluates to incorporate new technology with existing system.
Identifies, supports, uses technologies and methods to maximize performance within IS (Support) and Virtua Pharmacy (Operations) that will enhance the value provided by IS to support the overall Virtua initiatives and workflow process.
Serves as the IS Liaison to the customer base.
Demonstrates leadership and ability to coordinate pharmacy operations, support staff, Clinical Informatics and facilitate appropriate pharmacy system functioning.
Provide 24x7 On-Call support for all Pharmacy and Patient Medication Workflow Related Systems.
3+ years of experience in a hospital pharmacy role. Must possess practical experience and formal training in a Pharmacy discipline such that they are comfortable with highly specialized drug naming conventions, pharmacy workflow, terminology, and operations of a hospital-based pharmacy. Needs to be knowledgeable in various aspects of information systems terminology, information systems processing, and desktop solutions. The IT Pharmacist needs to be able to set priorities and work independently.
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
Annual Salary: $110,912 - $177,972 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
