This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an IT Operations Manager based in South Africa.

This role offers the opportunity to lead the technology operations that keep an organization secure, reliable, and productive.
You will oversee core IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, software applications, and security systems.
The position combines operational leadership with strategic planning, process improvement, and technology governance.
You will manage an IT team, coordinate external vendors, and ensure technology services consistently support business objectives.
A key focus will be maintaining strong security, compliance, performance, and cost efficiency across the IT environment.
You will also use operational metrics and business needs to identify improvements and guide technology investments.

Accountabilities

Oversee the maintenance, availability, and effective operation of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and software applications.
Implement, maintain, and monitor security measures designed to protect organizational data, systems, and IT assets.
Lead, recruit, train, and manage IT team members while fostering a collaborative, productive, and service-oriented environment.
Develop and manage the IT budget, balancing business requirements with cost-effective technology solutions and investments.
Manage relationships with external technology vendors and service providers, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and appropriate service levels.
Monitor IT performance metrics and operational trends to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Ensure IT operations comply with applicable local and international regulations, standards, policies, and security requirements.
Contribute to the development and execution of IT strategies that align technology capabilities with broader business objectives.
Evaluate operational processes and introduce improvements that enhance reliability, efficiency, security, and user experience.
Provide leadership and guidance on complex IT operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication with relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT operations, including at least 2 years in a management or team leadership position.
Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems administration, networking, and security protocols.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, develop, and manage IT professionals effectively.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to investigate complex technical and operational issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Understanding of IT budgeting, financial planning, cost management, and technology investment decisions.
Experience managing external vendors, service providers, and technology partners.
Knowledge of IT compliance requirements, security standards, and operational best practices.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple operational and strategic initiatives.
Ability to translate business objectives into practical IT strategies and operational improvements.
Must be based locally in South Africa to be considered for the role.
