The IT Officer supports Sunrise Credit Union’s technology infrastructure, systems reliability, and end-user services. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Infrastructure & Systems Support, this role provides hands-on technical expertise in network operations, server administration, endpoint management, and user support.
The IT Officer ensures that technology systems operate efficiently, securely, and in alignment with organizational policies and performance standards. Working closely with the Director, Systems & Security and CIO, the role contributes to system maintenance, cybersecurity readiness, and ongoing technology improvement initiatives that support Sunrise Credit Union’s digital transformation and member service excellence.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
Infrastructure & Systems Support

• Administer and maintain IT systems, servers, networks, and hardware to ensure stable and secure operations.
• Monitor system performance, network connectivity, and availability of IT services.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure or application issues, escalating to senior technical staff when required.
• Support configuration, patching, and upgrades of operating systems and network equipment.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.

End-User & Technical Support

• Provide Tier 2/3 technical support to employees, ensuring prompt resolution of hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• Manage IT service requests and incident resolution in accordance with defined service level agreements (SLAs).
• Support device deployment, configuration, and user onboarding processes.
• Ensure consistent and professional service delivery to all internal users.

Security & Compliance

• Support implementation and monitoring of cybersecurity controls and tools.
• Conduct system updates, antivirus maintenance, and user access management in compliance with IT security standards.
• Assist with internal and external IT audits, maintaining documentation and evidence for review.
• Identify and report vulnerabilities or incidents to the Senior Manager, Infrastructure & Systems Support.

Systems Administration & Maintenance

• Perform account management, permissions, and group policy updates in Microsoft Active Directory and related systems.
• Manage updates, patches, and hardware inventory to maintain system integrity.
• Support integration between core systems, cloud applications, and network services.
• Participate in testing and deployment of new software, systems, and infrastructure solutions.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Collaborate with IT peers to identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and improved service delivery.
• Contribute to IT documentation, procedures, and knowledge base development.
• Participate in technology projects, migrations, or upgrades as assigned by leadership.
• Provide input on process improvements that enhance system performance or user experience.

Other Duties

• Maintain confidentiality, data integrity, and compliance with Credit Union technology policies.
• Participate in training to remain current with emerging technologies, security standards, and best practices.

Education & Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in IT support, infrastructure, or systems administration.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong knowledge of network and server operations, Microsoft 365 environment, and Windows administration.
• Experience supporting end-user computing devices, printers, and peripherals.
• Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and user access management.

Preferred

• Experience in a credit union or regulated financial institution.
• Certifications such as ITIL Foundation.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies (Azure, O365).
• Knowledge of firewalls, routers, switches, and endpoint security management.

• Vendor and service provider coordination experience.
